I took a class field trip to Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles. Little Tokyo is a clash between the practical everyday life styles of the remnant Japanese Americans living in the area and the tourism industry. The numerous small restaurants are being taken over by mainstream markets such as Pinkberry, and Johnny Rocket's. Little Tokyo is also playing host to several Korean businesses. Slowly the ethnic neighborhood as eroding. Although the buildings are deteriorating and the residents aging, the culture is still rich and as vibrant as is was in Little Tokyo's golden age of the 20's and 30's.

This one of the coolest neon signs I have seen

This box thing was in front of the old Japanese American National Museum. I have no idea what it does but it looks like an ancient camera of some sort.

I have learned that if you want pictures of people while you're walking around an unfamiliar part of town you have to shoot no-lookers.
